‘Take Your Children to Their Grandparents’ Home’: CM Yogi’s Unique Summer Vacation Appeal

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister urges children to learn new skills, connect with nature and spend time with grandparents during summer holidays

Lucknow: As summer vacations begin across schools in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has written a heartfelt letter to children and parents, encouraging them to make meaningful use of the holidays by learning new skills, reconnecting with family traditions and embracing an eco-friendly lifestyle.

In his message, the Chief Minister described summer vacations as a time of joy, discovery and self-development. He urged children to use the break from academic routines to explore their interests, build positive habits and gain life experiences that contribute to personality development.

CM Yogi encouraged teenagers and young students to learn a new language or acquire new skills during the holidays. He also suggested cultivating hobbies such as reading, photography, painting, cooking, music and gardening.

In a special appeal to parents, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of strengthening family bonds and preserving traditional values. He requested parents to take children to their maternal and paternal grandparents’ homes during the vacations so they could spend quality time with elders and learn about family traditions and values.

“Many of us grew up listening to moral stories from our grandparents, but today’s children are gradually moving away from those experiences,” the Chief Minister noted in his letter.

Highlighting the importance of environmental awareness, CM Yogi also encouraged parents to introduce children to nature and biodiversity through eco-friendly tourism. He recommended visits to destinations such as Dudhwa National Park, Chuka Beach and Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary, saying such experiences help children connect with nature, culture and healthy living.

The Chief Minister also used the opportunity to promote environmental conservation and responsible tourism. He appealed to families to adopt a plastic-free lifestyle during vacations by using cloth or jute bags during travel and picnics and avoiding littering in public places.

“Small efforts today become the foundation for major change in the future,” he said, while urging parents to teach children the importance of soil, water and trees.

CM Yogi further advised parents to involve children in plantation drives and encourage them to care for plants and maintain cleanliness in their surroundings. According to him, true environmental sensitivity develops only when children understand the value of nature firsthand.
